Surprising Dec. District Teacher of the Month

(January 16, 2026) –  What a fantastic Friday, especially for this outstanding teacher — Ms. Katy Lucas! 

This morning, we dropped by the Harrison County Child Development Center to surprise Ms. Lucas and celebrate her as our December District Teacher of the Month winner. Mrs. Marcy Sherfield from the Huntington Learning Center presented Ms. Lucas with a certificate of recognition, a $50 gift card, teacher supplies, and balloons.

“As a dedicated preschool special education teacher, Ms. Lucas brings endless patience, creativity, and joy to her classroom every day. She creates a nurturing environment where every child is seen, supported, and encouraged to grow at their own pace,” said CDC Principal Angie Tanner.
