Welding
If it seems like Mr. Hogue knows his way around the welding shop, it could be because he completed the welding program here at the Career & Technical Center when he was a student at Harrison Central High School. From those beginnings, Mr. Hogue found employment in 1985 at Ingalls Shipbuilding, first in the apprenticeship program, then as a First Class Welder.
After 12 years with Ingalls, Mr. Hogue owned a family farm equipment business and was a pipe welder for Northwind Fabrication.
Mr Hogue returned to the welding program in 2006 as the instructor. He has certifications from AWS, Contren, COOLS, IC3, and NCCER.
Mr. Hogue says, "Welding is a valuable skill that can lead to good employment. Students who are willing to learn and put in the time can be very successful."
