Best Practices for Back To School

  • Get enough rest.  Teenagers require more sleep than adults, but often have trouble sleeping.  Have a regular routine, and eliminate sleep distractions (turn off the phone).
  • Eat a good breakfast.  You can't run at top efficiency on an empty tank.
  • Come to school prepared.  Do your homework and have it ready for the next day.
  • Try something new this year.  A sport, club or activity is a excellent way to get more out of high school, develop new skills, and meet new people.
  • Put the past behind you.  One of the great opportunities in high school is that every year is a new start.  Don't let last year's challenges keep you from making the most of this year. You have a "Do Over"--don't waste it!
  • Don't be afraid to ask for help.  High school is a learning experience.  No one knows it all. Your teachers, counselor, and Student Services Coordinator and director are here for you.
