Nurse Keen graduated from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in 2005 with an associate degree in nursing, then began her career on a busy Medical/Dialysis Unit at Singing River Hospital.  After transitioning to their Inpatient Psychiatric Ward, she also worked as an Occupational Health Nurse at Ingalls Shipbuilding and for an Orthopedic foot and ankle specialist.  She has been afforded many awesome opportunities through her experience as an RN leading her to be knowledgeable and well-rounded in her field.

She joined Harrison County School District as a school nurse at Harrison Central in 2014 and joined Career Tech in 2018 as teacher of the new the Health Science program, then moved to D’Iberville High School when the Health Science program was expanded to that location.

Nurse Keen says, "Coming from a long line of teachers, school has always felt like 'home' to me. When I became a school nurse, I thought that I would be a school nurse until retirement. Little did I know that I would eventually complete my family tree and continue the tradition of teaching. I feel as my career and life has taken me where I am truly meant to be."

West Harrison High School

Mrs. Woods joined the team in 2025 when the Health Science program expanded to include an additional location on the West Harrison High School campus.

Mrs. Woods’ training in the health care field began at Stone High School where she completed the 2-year Health Science program that she now teaches.  She continued to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at William Carey University. Her professional experience includes work as an Intensive Care Unit nurse and a Post-Anesthesia Care Unit nurse, where she still practices as needed.

Her experience in the Health Science program at Stone High School gave her a foundational introduction into anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical skills that she would not have without the program.  She hopes to provide that foundation for her students and ignite the spark that each of them has for the medical field.

Career Tech Center

Dr. Hart joined the Career Tech Center as Health Science teacher in 2025.  She has a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing Education, and a Doctor of Education.  She has been a registered nurse since 2004.  She feels strongly that having worked in healthcare for many years and held many job roles that she is able to share her knowledge with CTC students.  It is her biggest honor to teach and shape future healthcare workers in our nation.

She chose the CTC as a new step in education, something a little different.  She enjoys challenges and being able to work in diverse areas.  Her hope is that every student will learn something from her and will offer what they learned to someone else along their journey.  She values education and personally feels there is something out there for everyone.  She encourages students to find their passion because she has found joy in her healthcare journey.

Health Science students are taught responsibility, work ethic, employability skills, interview skills, and teamwork.

A healthy learning environment is facilitated with an open understanding of differences and backgrounds.

Most students will continue to college for either a 2-year or 4-year degree and some continue on to a graduate degree or professional school.

Part of the program is getting the students to local colleges and medical facilities to show the students what programs and jobs are available to them. With the focus on a multitude of career options through the curriculum, students will have a much better understanding of the healthcare field and what specific jobs entail. This will help them decide a career path and know exactly what they will be doing in those positions when they graduate from college.

”Why did you choose your Career & Technical Program?”
